Komunitas Fotografer Semarang ( KFS ) invited me to speak in a weekend seminar in Semarang, "Infrared in My Eyes". The seminar was very successful. And now I have many new good friends in Semarang, Pak Martinus, Pak Hannie, Pak Kristianto, Pak Lukas, Pak Dody, Pak Agung, Pak Yohanes, Pak Noor, and some others.

"It had only to be a matter of time before Kodak cleared the infra-red films out of the inventory, and the cut off date for obtaining supplies is set as the end of May '07. Both black and white HIE and the false-colour Ektachrome Infra-red are to be discontinued. While many photo materials have been dropped by Kodak, infra-red has a unique place, and there is no direct replacement from any other manufacturer for either of these materials, especially the colour EIR. Depending on perceived demand we may try to stockpile to some extent, but as the EIR at least will need to be deep frozen, the amount we can store will be limited."

Nikon Capture NX 1.1 is really a recommended software for Nikon photographers. The biggest reasons are its U Point technology and the ability to process RAW files directly.
And for infrared pictures, by using Capture NX we can process custom white balance after the pictures taken. But don't forget to shoot it in RAW because this feature is active in RAW files.
Just try it, and you'll love it.
This is one of my test shot for Nikon D40 full infrared, taken during my visit in Sunda Kelapa, Jakarta. Without preset, but in RAW format, I can change and process the channel swap in Nikon Capture NX 1.1.
